Little Tumbler!

Zoe is a GREAT tumbler! This past saturday she got to show off her stuff at her tumbling competition. She did some awesome passes and is working up to her back handspring any day now. She actually has already done it, but her teacher doesnt want her doing it without her help so she doesn't get hurt.
She has just discovered that she has some pretty muscley arms and likes to show them off to me on a daily basis. I'm so proud of my girl! She is so talented and it is so exciting to watch this little bendy chicka do her stuff.

Taekwondo Kai!

Kai is kicking butt and taking names! He is working his little bum off at taekwondo and is making some great progress! Just call him Chuck Kai Norris. Dont mess with him...or he'll round house you into the ground!
He gets tested for a new belt tomorrow! He'll do great!

Kai IS a Great Brain!

I couldnt have been more proud of this boy! He worked so hard getting all the facts that he could about Sharks and then putting it into a report. He read his report perfectly for the class. He even pointed out the different sharks as he talked about them. At the end of the report, he asked the questions for the class that he and I had come up with. We only had 3 prepared...but apparently I missed the memo that says that you needed 10. Kai had it all under control though...he came up with great questions about his report for the class. He made them up as he went and then gave them 3 choices for the answers. One of the questions he asked was, "What does a cookie cutter shark eat?" He wouldn't accept anything except the perfect answer. He was brilliant! I honestly was so dang impressed with him. He was so confident and handled the whole thing marvelously!

Next time you see Kai, ask him what the skin is called on the shark...he'll tell ya!

Zoe the Tumbler...

Zoe had her tumbling recital and did awesome! About a month prior to her tumbling recital she participated in a competition. She got 3rd place! I was so proud of her. It was very tense and quiet while she did her tumbling passes. She told me that she wasn't nervous at all. Here is a little clip of her at her tumbling recital. Congrats on a job well done Zoe! You were AMAZING!

Vera Wang move over!

I never know what we're going to get when Lucy gets dressed. I've taken the philosophy that she can dress herself (mainly cuz she wont have it any other way) if we dont have to be in public. Wait, I take that back...she did wear her tinkerbell dress to the grocery store today. Well anyway...she takes great pride in her outfits. This particular one is her swim suit with a t-shirt, a pair of cotton tights with her flip flops. She was so excited about this one! She usually goes through about 5 of these types of outfits a day. SO much laundry, but I get a kick out of seeing what she comes up with. When I was getting Lucy ready for bed, she was distraught because she said she had left some stuff at the park. It was already dark so I took Kai with me for protection...I looked around in the dark and could see scattered peices of clothing. I found EVERY peice of this outfit at the park except the swim suit. She was so relieved to get her clothes back. We had a nice little talk about not taking clothes off except at home...I cant tell you how many peices of her clothes I find in my car, the yard, the park. It is awesome....it is what makes Lucy. She dances to the beat of her own drum without a doubt. I LOVE Lucy!

Kai the Great Brain

Kai is getting ready to do his Great Brain project. He chose to do it on SHARKS! We made 2 lists...one of things that he already knows and one of things that he wants to learn about.
The list was GIANT about the things that he already knows and equally long of things that he wants to learn. One of the things that he already knows is that sharks are hatched out of eggs! I didnt know that! . He also already knew why when sharks come out of water, thier eyes turn a color. It is a protection. We then decided to learn more about them by watching videos on youtube. We watched BBC and Discovery segments on Great Whites. It was nerve racking for me. I hate those things! My stomach was so nervous the whole time I was watching. Kai kept laughing at me because I am SUCH a wimp.

It ended up that we started watching Shark Attacks. It was CRAZY!!!! Mostly it was on seals and then there was a Killer Whale and Great White fight. Kai and I were betting who would win. He won when we saw Shamu swimming away with a big chunk of Great White in his mouth. Kai was in heaven through this whole thing. By the end of it all, I had the most nervous stomach ever. I seriously hate sharks more than ANYTHING. So much for making peace with the Ocean. Oh my gosh...scary stuff.

Back to his report...I had Kai look up the questions in google...he did a pretty good job of reading through stuff to find the answers. I was so proud of him. It's his first research paper and it will be a fine one at that!
He called Kerry and asked him to help him with some of it, there are still lots of questions that Kai wants answered about Sharks. He and Kerry should have a good time looking up those answers. He presents it to his class on 05/16 at 1:30. He is getting so excited and nervous about it. He asks and worrys about it all the time...since he has no concept of time or days, he wakes up everyday nervous that today is the day for his project and it isnt done. I tell him...Dude, if you would learn what 2 weeks meant then you wouldnt have to worry. Then he says, "Is that the same as 2 days, 2 years, 2 minutes? How long is 2 weeks!!" Oh boy. I'll keep you posted on his progress!

Learning at school? According to Kai...

I picked Kai up from school today and as usual asked him if he had a good day. He said, "Yes".
I said, "What did you learn today?"
He said, "How many times do I have to tell you, we dont even ever learn things at school!"
I almost started busting up laughing, but just smiled and said, "Really? Thats weird"
He said, "We only learn things if we go to science, but only the older grades go to science so I dont learn anything ever"
I said, "Thats a bummer"
I just decided to not remind him that he LEARNED TO READ this year...that may have just shocked him a little too much to realize that he actually is learning at school.
Love that boy!
